Taiwan's HTC may release phones that get good reviews but it struggles to persuade customers to buy them. However it can't be criticized for a lack of marketing skills.
The company just sent a gold-plated HTC One M8 to the bombastic head of T-Mobile USA, who tweeted his delight in the usual exuberant manner.
Describing it as "awesome", T-Mobile USA's CEO, John Legere said to just call him Goldfinger, after the famous James Bond villan.
The phone is due to be released in a gold coloured variant, but this appears to be plated in actual gold, and as a model would usually be restricted to the Middle-Eastern markets where such bling is more favoured, amongst those who can afford it.
