Sales at Yum's KFC outlets in China had been falling in recent quarters
Yum Brands, the owner of fast food chains KFC and Pizza Hut, has reported an 18% jump in first quarter profit, helped by a rebound in sales in China.
The firm made net earnings of $399m (£237m) for the three months to 22 March, up from $337m a year ago.
Sales at outlets in China rose 9% from a year ago, with those at KFC up 11%.
Yum's China sales had dipped after a report in late 2012 said two of its suppliers were providing chickens with excessive levels of antibiotics.
Just as the firm was recovering from those allegations, fears of an outbreak of bird flu in the country dented its sales.
