Another rumour about a possible mid to low end Nexus smartphone has emerged this time suggesting that the company might not use a Qualcomm processor to keep costs down.
The latest rumour citing unnamed sources comes from a Chinese news report that claims a future Nexus smartphone from Google will use a MediaTek chipset as the core processor.
Although Nexus handsets tend to be at the upper end of the market, the choice of MediaTek could add support to previous rumours that Google might take the Nexus brand down a notch or two in the price specs. Having sold its Motorola subsidiary, the company would certainly be more relaxed about advancing its own handset brand without alienating handset manufacturers.
