Samsung is said to be working on a new virtual reality headset set to be announced later this year.
Working models of the headset are reportedly powered by existing Samsung devices, including the flagship Galaxy S5. A consumer version is likely to run off more powerful, yet--to-be-released devices.
A virtual headset would put Samsung in direct competition with the likes of Facebook's recent acquisition Oculus Rift and Sony's Project Morpheus.
The new device is likely to feature an OLED screen, numerous cameras positioned towards the player's face and a wireless connection to the device powering it, according to Engadget.
The most probable purpose for the headset would be to enhance mobile gaming, though it could also be used for immersive experience videos.
