UK's EE Shows Off Low-Cost Huawei Built LTE Smartphone

UK based mobile network EE is launching what it says is the UK's cheapest LTE capable smartphone as well as a range of entry level 4G tariffs.

Customers can choose from a range of 2-year contracts which includes the option of a free 4G handset, 500MB of mobile data and an inclusive minutes and texts allowance from £13.99 a month

EE has also extended its range of 4G Extra plans which offer EE's biggest mobile data allowances.

In addition, customers who sign up to the company's landline service will get an additional 10GB of mobile broadband allowance per month at no extra charge.

All new Business Extra plans offer unlimited calls, texts and up to 36GB of double speed 4G data as standard, plus 180 minutes of international calls to use at home and abroad. Business Extra customers can use their 180 minutes to make calls from the UK to international numbers or make roaming calls in Europe and the USA to the UK.

Kestrel

EE also announced the launch of its new Android based smatphone, the Kestrel. The phone, which is being supplied by Huawei comes with a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 4.5" qHD display, and HD Voice compatibility.

The Kestrel will be available for £100 on prepay accounts, or free of charge with contract agreements.

EE said that it had named the phone the Kestrel after the British bird of prey, although it is also the name of a defunct low-cost lager popular in the 1980s.
