The end of the queue could be in sight, thanks to a new smartphone app that allows users to order and pay for food or services ahead and then collect them at a set time.
Made by PayPal, the payments company owned by eBay, the new app could spell the end of a great British tradition by allowing people to pre-order cups of coffee or food on their way to work, collecting them from a counter as they pass by, or sitting down to eat immediately after they arrive.
Paypal will begin trials of the app for takeaways at the popular Japanese food chain Wagamama, and it will also allow be possible for users to pay their bills at more than 2,000 high street shops and restaurants. These include burger chain GBK and Italian restaurant Prezzo as well as retailers including Oasis, Coast, JD Sports, Blacks and Snow & Rock.
