Nokia Takes a Million Pre-Orders for its Android Smartphone

Nokia's new hybrid Android smartphone the Nokia X appears to be popular in China as the company has just announced that it has taken a million pre orders for the handset.
The handset is currently being targeted at markets where it feels that lower priced smartphones will do well, such as China.
It would also seem that the local market, where a reliable brandname can do wonders for a company is keen on the combination of Android OS, and the Nokia brand.
Although that may be seen as a snub to Microsoft's Windows Phone OS, as the Nokia variant of Android is more tightly tied into its own app store and shares aesthetics with Windows Phone, it should make the long term upgrade path to more expensive handsets easier for the Chinese consumer.
The phone goes on sale in China on the 25th March.
