Twitter Closing its Lacklustre Music App

Social networking service Twitter has announced that it is closing its music service and has already removed the downloadable software from the app stores.
Existing users can carry on using the app until the 18th April, then the service will close completely.
The app was launched last year, as a music recognition service tied into the Twitter service, but seemed to garner little appeal with end users, and there has been limited marketing support from the company.
The company based the service on a platform, WeAreHunted that it bought in April last year, and promptly closed down, but its own replacement proved to be less popular.
The company still has aspirations in the music market, as its tweets are used by a lot of musicians to promote themselves and their products, however it struggles to find a way of expanding on that core function.
In a statement, the company simply said: "We continue to experiment with new ways to bring you great content based on the music activity we see every day on Twitter."
