Microsoft and Dell Sign Android Patents Agreement

Speculation about Dell's intentions towards the Android smartphone and tablet market is heightened following an announcement from Microsoft.
In a statement, Microsoft and Dell said that they have signed shared patent licensing agreements -- related to Android and Chrome OS devices and Xbox gaming consoles.
Under the terms of the agreement, they agreed on royalties for Dell's products running the Android or Chrome platforms and on consideration to Dell for a license for Xbox gaming consoles.
Apart from the usual fluff about how happy everyone is, no meaningful details were provided in the statement. However, that Dell is seeking Android OS patents will raise speculation that it might be about to release some new tablets to compliment is existing range.
At one time, it was said that Microsoft was earning more from licensing Android patents than it was from its own Windows Phone OS.
