Vodafone Ireland is having to apologize to customers after they were mistakenly told that money had been taken from their bank accounts.
Vodafone sent out alerts to customers by SMS and email telling them that it had taken money from their bank accounts to settle invoices, when they were not expecting anything of the sort to happen.
The company said that around 1 percent of its 2.4 million customers were affected by what it calls a "customer communication error".
It hasn't elaborated on the problem, but did confirm that it wasn't an external hack into its computers -- so it looks like a glitch in its own internal systems.
