iPhone Health Gadget Analyses Blood And Saliva

iPhone

A new iPhone accessory can analyse blood, saliva and mucus - displaying the results instantly on screen.
The three-inch cube can test levels of testosterone, inflammation, vitamin D and fertility using small amounts of bodily fluids.
The developers say the device - called Cue - produces results with the same precision as desktop laboratory equipment.
Bodily fluids are collected using white strips of material which are then inserted into disposable colour-coded cartridges.
The cartridges are placed into Cue, and the results are then displayed through an iPhone app.
It then uses the information to make tweaks to the user's lifestyle - for example if low vitamin D is detected, an outdoor walk could be added to the calendar.
Product designer Scot Herbst said: "The most challenging aspect of the product in general is creating a user interface that seems so simple and intuitive from a very complex starting point.
"The complex starting place are these huge machines in the lab, which are so complicated and require hours of work and trained lab technicians."
He insisted the system is so simple that there is "virtually nothing" a user could do that would lead to an error.
The starter pack is currently available in the US for $199 (£117) with disposable parts costing between $4-10 (£2.30-5.90)
