Microsoft 'working on smartwatch to rival Samsung Gear Fit'

Samsung Gear Fit
Microsoft is reportedly planning a move into the burgeoning wearable tech market, with a smartwatch that measures heart rate and synchronises with iPhones, Android phones and Windows Phones.
The smartwatch will be similar in appearance to Samsung's Gear Fit, and will feature a colour touchscreen "about the size of half a stick of gum", positioned on the inside of the wearer’s wrist, "making it easier and more private for users to view notifications", according to a report in Forbes.
However, unlike the Gear Fit, which requires users to switch the heart rate monitor on manually, Microsoft's smartwatch will reportedly track a user's heart rate continuously over the course of a day.
A release date for the smartwatch was not revealed, but Forbessuggested that Microsoft could be planning to launch the device as soon as this summer. A Microsoft spokesperson refused to comment on the speculation.
This is not the first time that reports have emerged of a Microsoft smartwatch. In July 2013, The Wall Street Journal revealed that the company was in discussions with suppliers in Asia to source 1.5-inch displays and other components for the devices.
