Apple Watch pre-orders reach 1m in US!

Apple is believed to have received around one million Apple Watch pre-orders within 24 hours in the US alone, according to consumer experts.
Apple began accepting pre-orders for the smartwatch last Friday, two weeks ahead of the full sale date of April 24. Models are now available to try on by appointment in Apple stores across the UK, alongside in London's Selfridges and Dover Street Market. Pre-orders must be logged through the Apple site or Watch app.
Around two thirds of pre-orders were for the cheapest Sport entry-level model, which retail from $349 (£299), with the majority of the remaining orders for the standard Apple Watch ($549 / £479). The luxury rose and yellow gold Edition models, which cost upwards of $10,000 (£8,000) did not generate enough online receipts to feature in the research, conducted by Slice Intelligence.
Just over 70 per cent of orders were for the larger 42mm watch face, with 40 per cent of customers opting for the space grey alluminium body. Black sport band was the most popular strap choice for both Sports and standard Watch customers, coming in at 64 per cent and 28 per cent respectively.
Slice analysed the receipts of 9,080 online shoppers, 72 per cent of whom had previously purchased an Apple product within the last two years. Just under half (43 per cent) of Watch customers also bought the new 12-inch MacBook, which went on sale on April 10.
Customers are facing a wait of around a month for delivery of their new Watches, after Apple predicted demand would exceed supply at launch.
Swiftly after pre-ordering opened, shipping times for models were generally in the region of four to six weeks.
The company claimed pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus last September broke records, with over four million handsets ordered within the first 24 hours.
